June 30, 2010 - Toronto
This program is now closed, and Transparen Corporation is no longer accepting drives under this program. As well, the $20/file data recovery program has been closed.
April 20, 2010 - Toronto
Since the launch of this program, only one individual has (almost) taken advantage of the program. Despite this, we are keeping the program open because it has instructive value. The lack of success of the free program shows that the vast majority of people who need data recovery are willing to pay for it and possess the means to do so. Additionally, most clients and potential clients value receiving their data back in a reasonable amount of time, and perceive the benefit in having a data recovery provider that is paid to do the work of recovering the data.
November 9, 2009 - Toronto
Just on time for the Christmas season, Transparen Corporation is launching a FREE data recovery program, intended for non-essential data only. The service does include clean room recovery, service area work, and recovery of files to an FTP server.
It does not include:
- any particular service level - the service could be fast, or could be very slow, even years
- any guarantee about quality of service
- shipping costs: we will bill the client in advance (or as incurred) for any COD, shipping, and customs costs associated with the job, regardless of outcome
For faster service (but still slow compared to commercial level services), if you have a computer-related website or blog, please link to our site and let us know that you have done so.
To qualify for the free data recovery program, you must:
1. Fill out the data recovery quote form, specifying $20/file data recovery (don't worry, we won't charge you $20/file - read the next sentence). In the comments area, specify that you are seeking to use the free data recovery program.
2. Package the drive as indicated, and ship it to only the following processing location:
Transparen Corporation 100 King Street West, Suite 5700 Toronto Ontario, Canada M5X 1C9
3. If you are shipping across an international border, provide an invoice for $1 for the damaged drive, and also provide a letter stating
a) that GST on the invoice value will be paid by the recipient if the drive changes ownership.
b) that the drive is being shipped for data recovery service only.
c) that the drive remains the property of the original sender, and is to be returned to the originating country on demand.
4. Enclose a 1 page note in the package, affixed to the damaged drive, saying that you are seeking to use the free data recovery program.
5. For faster service and to improve results, we suggest to send an identical drive along with the damaged one. However this is not necessary.
If you require faster service, we encourage you to fill in our data recovery quote form here.
***** This is a limited time offer which could expire at any moment without notice. Clients should request confirmation to ensure they are accepted into this program.
